Local Services
This project is to research, prepare and establish community sponsored settlement – CSS in Pembrokeshire, with outreach work to other parts of West Wales.
The project established Community Sponsored Settlements in three areas of Pembrokeshire (Haverfordwest, Narberth and Fishguard) with the aim of involving the communities as fully as possibly to get the best outcomes for host communities and guess refuges together. The project achieved what it set out to accomplish by equipping homes for re-settlement, providing interpreters and raising cultural awareness in three local communities. The project was tailored to the needs of the clients and therefore able to address issues as they arise, eg: learning currency values or mock telephone calls to emergency services.
Organisational transparency is a must for the group to move forward in unity. The lead applicant to LEADER unfortunately did not deliver the project and therefore the outputs had not been fully expressed to Hiraeth Hope and this caused a lack of evidence being compiled throughout the project to be used as evidence of outcomes.
” A Syrian evening was organised and two families worked together to provide a feast of Syrian dishes for 80 people. Which will lead to a business being set up.”
